Yes
this is a picture of the most basic spinner known to the fisherman but having
been around for about 100 years and only costing a couple of quid you can't deny
they've stood the test of time!
I used to love plugs and many anglers I know have had their best results on them.
But I generally find that when fishing in the UK
from the shore plugs produce bigger fish but spinners produce more, smaller fish.
That's not to say you can't catch big Bass on spinners because two of my friends had
a 15pounder and a 10pounder on small spinners/wedges - I just think you get a
lot more Bass under 3lb on spinners. These are some of the most popular lure manufactures:
Rapala | Yo Zuri | Abu Garcia | Storm | Shimano | Bomber | Lucky Craft
I use spinners all the time now because for every cast made with a spinner your covering twice as much ground and its so much easier to cast and fish with -especially if your a novice.

Carrying lures
Before you buy loads of lures its worth considering that you'll need something to carry them in if your planning to fish from the shore, after all fishing lures are expensive and should be looked after!
It's all down to personal preference - some anglers like rucksacks, others like belt/waist pouches and some just carry them in their pockets for quick access. There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to lure fishing but if you plan to move around a lot then investing in a good bag with plenty of compartments would be a must.
For Bass fishing from the shore in the UK there are generally two favoured types of lure - the Plug and the Spinner.Plugs
With plugs we mainly have two types - plugs that dive (and either float or sink) or plugs that are used on the surface.
