Sometimes I feel we forget about our friend the Wrasse.
In the UK we are pretty much obsessed with catching Bass when we go spinning and
probably rightly so as Bass are the king of the sea, but about the poor old
Wrasse?
The main reason I think anglers are not bothered about trying to catch a Wrasse is because they live in rough ground, and rough ground basically means losing the odd lure (ok you can't really eat a Wrasse I admit). This is a shame as Wrasse are great to catch - they fight hard, they hit the lure hard, they grow big and are a beautiful looking fish.
Lures & Plugs
Fishing for Wrasse using a plug or spinner I find requires a slightly different approach than with for Bass.
I always found that brighter, more vulgar colours and designs like orange and
yellow or Perch worked best for Wrasse - like these below:
It's good to cast and does not snag that much as they've only got one hook.
